Benefits Open Enrollment

The Power of Choice in Support of You!

Your 2022 benefits continue to provide you truly best-in-class health coverage and the power of choice—so you can choose the benefits that fit you and your family best. You have the choice of health plans, but also a choice when you need care, and choice on how best to support your wellbeing throughout the year.

These are the biggest changes and enhancements in several years, and we encourage you to review the information and details on these updates, including the Plan Comparison Chart, which highlights key coverage features of each plan.

What's New for 2022

Benefit Effective January 1, 2022
NEW! UnitedHealthcare High Deductible Health Plan (HDHP) with Health Savings Account (HSA)

There is a new medical plan, the UnitedHealthcare High Deductible Health Plan (UHC HDHP), available in all locations.

This new plan will not have any paycheck deductions—Nutanix will pay 100% of the premiums for coverage for you and your family.

The plan has two components:

  1. A medical plan. The rich coverage provided under the plan has an annual deductible, which is offset by Nutanix contributions to your HSA. After you meet the deductible, there is a 10% cost share for most in-network services and a 30% cost share if you seek out-of-network care—a lower cost share for out-of-network coverage than the UHC POS plan.

  2. This plan has a deductible, which is offset by an HSA—see below. When you choose out-of-network care, your deductible and cost share is less than the UHC POS plan.

Among the plan highlights, it includes access to Crossover—virtual and near-site concierge healthcare.

This plan covers out of network well person care and also covers unlimited physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy, and nutritionist visits.

  3. HSA: This tax-advantaged account can help you pay for eligible healthcare expenses on a pre-tax basis, or save for the future. Nutanix gets you started by contributing $600 for employee-only coverage or $1,200 for family coverage at the beginning of the year. You can also make contributions of your own, saving up to the annual maximum limit set by the IRS. Any money you put in reduces your taxable income, earnings generated by the account aren’t taxed, and withdrawals aren’t taxed when used for qualified expenses. Click here to see the 2022 HSA Contributions.

Most employees are eligible to enroll in the HDHP plan, but there are some situations which prevent you from being eligible. Click here for more details.

NEW! Crossover available for HDHP Members

Crossover offers virtual and near-site concierge healthcare, available only to members enrolled in the new UHC HDHP.

Crossover is a unique and comprehensive private health center care experience that combines advanced health management services and exceptional member experiences.

As a member, you always get highly customized care, building a relationship with your providers, who work closely with you to achieve your health-related goals—check out how it works. Crossover is an in-network facility, so you won’t pay more for top-quality service. Learn more.

Virtual Services are available from anywhere with their digital-first, integrated care, including:

  • Mental Health—for issues related to anxiety, stress, depression, grief, substance overuse
  • Primary Care—for sick care, minor injuries, and for managing chronic conditions like diabetes or high blood pressure
  • Physical Therapy—to treat pain in neck, back, and body, and rehabilitation plans for surgeries or injuries, plus safe and personalized strength/stretching plans
  • Care Navigation—to book nearby in-person appointments or tests you may need outside of Crossover, manage medical records and prescription orders

You can visit a near-site clinic to get care, see providers in person, including seeing a chiropractor or acupuncturist, get an eye exam, or choose some new frames. Near-site clinics include locations across the Bay Area (one located less than five miles from our San Jose office!)—check out this virtual tour.

NEW! Limited Purpose Flexible Spending Account (FSA)

If you enroll in the new UHC HDHP, in addition to the HSA that is set up when you enroll, the Limited Purpose FSA is available to you instead of the Healthcare FSA. This allows you to set aside additional pre-tax money to use for eligible dental and vision expenses only (you can use your HSA for medical expenses or save it for future use). The Limited Purpose FSA contribution limit is $2,750 for 2022.

Why would you enroll in a Limited Purpose FSA?

While you can use your HSA plan to cover eligible medical, dental and vision expenses, if you plan to max out your HSA contributions or want to save even more for dental and vision expenses, this FSA allows for just that.

Remember, an FSA is a use-it-or-lose-it plan and any unused funds in a Limited Purpose FSA go away at the end of the plan year.

Transgender Health Benefits

Nutanix strives to support our employees across our diverse set of needs. As part of the updates for 2022, our UHC medical plans*, transgender health benefits will be expanded to now include coverage for reconstructive and complementary procedures that align with the World Professional Association for Transgender Health (WPATH), including mental health coverage (including online therapy), hormone therapy (pre- and post-surgery), breast/chest/genital surgery and reconstruction, voice and communication therapy, non-breast/genital surgery, tracheal shave, rhinoplasty, facial bone reduction/reconstruction, laryngoplasty/vocal cord (voice surgery), abdominoplasty, liposuction/lipofilling, permanent or other hair removal, hair implants/wigs, implants, and treatment covered for reversal.

*Except UHC Hawaii PPO Plan

COMING SOON! Family Planning and Support with Carrot In early 2022, your Nutanix benefits will introduce Carrot, which provides inclusive, family-forming benefits through dedicated and personalized guidance, such as fertility consultation, testing and planning to support you on your path, and reproductive support that includes medication, IVF/IUI, egg/sperm freezing and more. Carrot will be available to all employees and their partners. Look for details and information sessions coming in early 2022.

  • Can be claimed as a dependent on someone else’s tax return.
  • Are covered by another healthcare plan that’s not a high deductible health plan.
  • Are enrolled in Medicare.
  • Are enrolled or covered by a healthcare FSA or Health Reimbursement Account (HRA), including one through your spouse’s/domestic partner’s employer.
  • Are covered by veterans’ benefits and have used Veterans Affairs medical services within the past three months.

Don’t forget your FSA

If you want to enroll or continue to participate in a healthcare or dependent care flexible spending account (FSA) for 2022, you must enroll during Open Enrollment—this does not roll over each year. When you enroll in the new UHC HDHP plan, you can enroll in the Limited Purpose FSA to cover your dental and vision expenses.

For 2022, the FSA contribution limits are $2,750 for the healthcare FSA and $5,000 for the dependent care FSA.

Reminder: when you are deciding on how much to contribute in 2022 if you are currently enrolled in the healthcare FSA, any remaining funds from 2021 up to $550 will carryover and can be used through 2022.

How to Enroll

  • You can make your elections online via Workday at nutanix.okta.com.
  • From your inbox (located in the upper-right corner), click on Open Enrollment Change: “Your Name” 1/1/2022.
  • Review and make changes to your benefits.
  • Check your beneficiaries to make sure they are current.
  • Click Submit to complete your benefit elections.
  • Print or save the PDF copy of your 2022 elections by clicking the icon in the top right corner.

Remember: You must actively enroll in an FSA if you want to participate in 2022.

Once the enrollment period closes, you cannot change your benefit elections during the year unless you experience a qualifying life event, such as getting married or having a baby.

Do I Need to Take Action?

If you do not want to make any changes, and you do not want to participate in an FSA in 2022, then you do not have to do anything! However, Open Enrollment is a great opportunity to review your benefit elections with your family.

If you do not take action:

  • You will keep your current medical, dental and vision plans and coverage levels.
  • You will not have a healthcare or dependent care FSA for 2022.
  • Your optional life coverage (for you and your family) will remain the same.
  • Your beneficiaries may not be current.
  • You will miss out on the new UHC HDHP medical plan that includes a triple tax-advantaged HSA!
