Moving To/From California or Hawaii

If you’re moving to/from California or Hawaii, you may have access to different medical plans. Review the changes needed when you move between these states and take action. Any changes to medical coverage must be made within 30 days of your move date.

From California

If you’re currently enrolled in the Kaiser Permanente HMO and you move to another state, you will need to change your medical coverage to a plan available in the state to which you are moving. (The HMO is only available in California.)

If you’re enrolled in the UnitedHealthcare POS plan and you move to another state, you will remain enrolled in the POS, which will automatically convert to a non-CA network plan.

To California

If you’re enrolled in the UnitedHealthcare POS plan and you move to California, you will remain enrolled in the POS, which will automatically convert to a CA network plan.

Note: The Kaiser Plan is available to you when you move to California. However, you can’t enroll in this plan until the next open enrollment period in the fall.

From Hawaii

If you move to another state, you will need to change your medical coverage to a plan available in the state to which you are moving. (The UHC Hawaii Plan is only available in Hawaii.)

To Hawaii

If you move to Hawaii, the only available medical plan is the UHC Hawaii plan. You will need to change your medical plan.
