Notify Your Manager

Notify your manager of the death as soon as possible. This allows your manager to make timely arrangements for coverage of your current responsibilities while you’re out and to complete any required action items. If you’re the dependent and/or beneficiary of a deceased Nutanix employee, please reach out to the Nutanix People Team at hr@nutanix.com for assistance.

Arrange Time Off

When you have a death in your family, you're eligible to take Bereavement Leave. Speak with your manager about the time you’ll need to take off from work and record it in Workday.

Emotional Support: EAP & Headspace Care

The loss of a family member can be devastating. Nutanix provides resources to help you.

Headspace Care (formerly Ginger) provides mental wellbeing support from therapists through chat. This on-demand access to behavioral health coaches and personalized, interactive content is available anytime to support you. Visit the Headspace Care’s website to learn more. (Headspace Care is available to anyone 18 years and older who is enrolled in a Nutanix medical plan.)

Submit Life Insurance Claims

If your dependent had life insurance coverage through Nutanix, be sure to reach out to Prudential to start the life insurance claim process.

Update Your Benefits

If you need to drop your dependent from your Nutanix benefits coverage, be sure to do so within 30 days in Workday.

If you're the dependent and/or beneficiary of a deceased Nutanix employee, please be aware of the following related to health care coverage:

  • If you're currently covered under an employee’s medical, dental, vision, and EAP benefits, you're eligible for up to 36 months of continued coverage under COBRA.
  • If you elect to continue coverage through COBRA, Nutanix will cover the first 12 months of your COBRA coverage at no cost to you. Once the 12-month period ends, you'll be billed for your coverage at the current COBRA rates in place until you drop coverage or your coverage period ends.

Additionally, when a Nutanix employee passes away, the company provides survivor benefits support to the beneficiary to assist the family.
